The purpose of the Faculty Mentoring Toolkit is to:

  • Provide an overview of the UTRGV-SOM Faculty Mentoring Program
  • Describe the concepts and benefits of mentoring
  • Define the role of the mentor and mentee
  • Provide strategies for being an effective mentor
  • Describe the phases of the mentoring relationship
  • Provide tools to help the mentoring facilitator manage the mentoring pairs
