Dr. Robledo is a doctoral-level epidemiologist with collaborative research and consultation experience in reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, advanced quantitative and computing skills. She was trained at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center. She served for three years as a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health at The University of North Texas. Her primary research interests have focused on assessing the impact that environmental chemicals (i.e. bisphenol-A, phthalates, persistent organic pollutants and air pollution) have on maternal and child health. Dr. Robledo also has experience conducting research and working with research teams on a broad range of reproductive, pediatric and behavioral research topics. Though a new investigator, Dr. Robledo has a great deal of expertise and experience successfully conducting studies in human populations and working as part of a research team.

Dr. Michael Machiorlatti is a PhD biostatistician, graduating from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2019. He also holds an MS in applied mathematics from the University of Central Oklahoma (2007). His statistical research interests are in linear modeling, sampling theory, and missing data analysis. He has applied interests in oncology but enjoys working on a broad range of health-related topics with researchers at all stages (students, residents, fellows and faculty) and positions. Dr. Machiorlatti has publications in hematology, malpractice litigation, tobacco research, cost analysis, OBGYN, and other human populations research. A full listing of his research can be found at google scholar. Recently, he has also branched out by exploring applied and theoretical methods in sports analytics. Mr. Clark is a program manager in the department of Population Health and Biostatistics. He brings several years of experience working in non-profit community organizations, especially in training and supervising the valuable work of community health workers (CHW). During his time in community work, Mr. Clark has developed strong working relationships with many community organizations and working groups across the Rio Grande Valley.

Mr. Clark earned a BA in Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He also participated in an international exchange at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.

Elma Vega provides administrative support to the Department of Population Health and Biostatistics. She joined the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in July 2018. She comes to us with over ten years of office management experience having previously worked for the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library where she also served as a lead person in preparing and conducting community outreach programs for adults and programs for young adults. Elma holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas - Pan American. She is excited to be part of and looks forward to contributing to the growth of the Department of Population Health and Biostatistics.
