Description: The mission is to present the latest innovations in Neuroscience and discuss their importance in the field. This is the place to present raw data, successful/ failed experiments, new ordered instrumentation or new technology that is now used and shared by others. This is a place to prepare for the Neuroscience Seminar Series or other conferences. This is also the place to invite external vendors for demonstrations. This is the place to retransmit or analyze and comment on other webinars.


Brain Awareness Hour Series (BAH)

BAH occurs Friday once a month

Description: BAH is an outreach event. Its mission is to explore the wonders of the nervous system during Brain Awareness Hour. The IMAS is partnering with the RGV Society for Neuroscience Chapter to offer online presentations by nervous system researchers, perfect for adults and teens interested in expanding their awareness of brain science. Brain Awareness Hour takes place virtually via Zoom.

Sponsoring Research in the Rio Grande Valley:
RGV-SFN-C will sponsor every Neuroscience presentation and have a cash price for the Best Neuroscience Poster (BNP) at the SOM Annual Research Colloquium on Friday, February 19, 2021.

The Neuroscience Journal Club (TNJC) at UTRGV
Description: The TNJC mission is to present, analyze publications in all fields of Neuroscience that represent technological advancement, that are important in neurodegenerative and regenerative processes, at molecular, cellular and system levels, that are important in understanding normal and pathological features.

RGV - Brain Bee 2020
Date: 02/29/20
Location: SOM-UTRGV, Edinburg
Time: All Day
Description: The event consisted of a day of different competitions, demonstrations, and information regarding the Nervous System. The winners of the local competition got a cash price and went on Nationally, then Internationally.

The event was attended by middle school students across the Rio Grande Valley with a huge success. This is the first event of that kind in the Valley. The RGV Brain Bee 2020 was sponsored by UTRGV-GearUp, Dana Foundation, NPIG, and RGV-SFN-Chapter.

RGV - Brain Awareness Day 2020 (Cancelled)
Date: Thursday, March 19
Time: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Description: Kids’ and adults’ activities such as puzzles, playdoh, microscope observation, experimental sessions, dissections, slicing, models observation, movies, posters, and a whole day of clinical or scientific talks on the nervous system. You will be challenged!
