It has witnessed tremendous success in scientific discoveries that have revolutionized the area of cancer medicine. Every day, new scientific discoveries are emerging in this field, allowing us to develop newer diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for human diseases, including cancer.
Cancer immunotherapy is a rapidly evolving area as several cancer vaccines and targeted therapies are in different phases of clinical trials. This information represents new, exciting, rapidly evolving opportunities in education, research, and clinical services. New discoveries in basic science, information technologies, and clinical sciences are revolutionizing health care delivery at cost-effective rates across the globe. The Global pandemic of COVID-19 has again put forward the pressing need of this area in medical science.
The Division of Cancer & Immunology at the UTRGV School of Medicine is harnessing basic knowledge of microbiology and immunology to develop newer diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for chronic human diseases. Additionally, we are committed to providing an outstanding education and training experience for health professionals in the disciplines of microbiology and immunology. We will provide a unique platform for innovation, creativity, and excellence in basic, translational, and applied research. Our initiatives will help promote the local workforce in the Rio Grande Valley region dedicated to biomedical research and health care to transform the lives of patients around the area.
