John Austin Peña Memorial Center

The UTRGV School of Medicine, in partnership with the Hidalgo County Health Department, operates the community-driven John Austin Peña Memorial Center, which provides care for adolescents ages 12-18 who are at risk with medical, mental health (behavioral issues, ADHD, anger management), and appetite disorders, such as substance abuse.

The care offered at the clinic is centered on an interprofessional, team-care model that allows patients to interact with various professionals in the fields of emotional and mental health, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers and others.
