About Us
The RISE Undergraduate Training Program provides several programmatic activities that prepare students to pursue PhD degrees at research intensive institutions (see below). The program provides monetary support for students to engage in biomedical/behavioral research at UTRGV.
Program Activities
Research
- Students are paid to conduct research during the academic year and summer (up to 3 years); funds are provided to cover research costs
Travel
- Program covers all travel expenses for students to present research at national conferences
External Summer Research
- Program covers cost for students to conduct summer research at another University
Research Training/Career Development Forum
- Program provides students opportunity to present their data and learn best practices for success
Workshops
- Program will provide workshops on how to apply to graduate school, NSF application, GRE preparation course and others
Faculty and Staff
- Will work to identify and connect students with graduate programs
RISE also provides personalized academic advising, laboratories techniques courses, data reviews and monthly research seminar series
