How I Got My Grant - Dr. Christopher Vitek

Dr. Christopher Vitek, in collaboration with three other universities and their faculty, was awarded a ten million dollar grant to establish the Western Gulf Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Diseases at UTRGV. The University will receive $600,000 over a five year period for educational and surveillance purposes. Dr. Vitek describes the collaborative grant writing process and imparts the valuable lessons he has learned in writing more than 20 grants.
In this video series, we interview people who have successfully obtained external grants for research or development programs. We ask them to share their experiences and provide advice on how they navigated the process of applying for a grant, complying with its guidelines, and supplying deliverables to the funding agencies.
The mission of the series is to generate information that will inspire University faculty, staff, and students to seek out funding opportunities and apply for grants at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
