Dear Colleagues:
After consulting with university stakeholders and The University of Texas System, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Janna Arney as executive vice president (EVP) and provost of UTRGV. Dr. Arney has served as deputy president since fall 2017 and was appointed interim provost in summer 2020. As EVP, she will maintain the duties associated with her deputy president’s role. Please join me in congratulating and supporting Dr. Arney on her appointment.
Organizational Updates Coming
As mentioned in an email on September 2, Rick Anderson, our EVP for Finance and Administration, is leaving UTRGV to take a similar role at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). His last day at UTRGV will be October 15. In large part because of the excellent hiring Rick has done, his EVP position will not need to be filled directly. Rather, the duties associated with that role can be handled quite effectively and more efficiently by enhancing the responsibilities of some of his direct reports and by redistributing some responsibilities among other members of our current leadership team. More details regarding this plan will be forthcoming at a later date.
