Message from the President: Executive Leadership Announcement

September 2, 2021

Dear Colleagues:

Rick Anderson, our Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, has informed me that he is leaving UTRGV to join the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He will serve as EVP of Finance and Operations at MUSC and is set to assume that role Nov. 1, pending approval from the MUSC Board of Trustees. Mr. Anderson’s last day at UTRGV will be Friday, Oct. 15.

Mr. Anderson joined UTRGV in 2016 and has played a pivotal role in growing the university’s operating budget by nearly $200 million and developing and implementing a five-year comprehensive operating and capital financial plan.

"I want to thank President Bailey and his team for the unparalleled opportunity to help establish The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and start a new School of Medicine here in South Texas," Mr. Anderson said. "It has been a true honor and a privilege to serve the Rio Grande Valley."

Please join me in thanking Mr. Anderson for his work and dedication to UTRGV over the last five years. We wish him and his family nothing but the best as he begins this new chapter of his career.

Sincerely,

Guy Bailey
President
