Message from the President: Financial Outlook Presentation

August 20, 2021

Dear UTRGV Family:

Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing information regarding UTRGV’s financial situation and plans. As we’ve mentioned before, and as you will see in this message and forthcoming messages, UTRGV’s current financial situation is quite good.

We recently were asked by The University of Texas System Board of Regents to present a five-year financial projection. All UT System institutions have been asked to present similar reports over the next few years, and our opportunity came Wednesday at the August Board of Regents meeting.

We encourage everyone to read the presentation, which can be accessed by clicking here.

Please be aware that several items within our transformation plans have not been submitted to or approved by the Board of Regents. These plans will be further developed as part of the process to create our new strategic plan. That process will begin this fall.

Next week, we will provide an update on the investments currently being made to our faculty and staff salaries.

Lastly, we’d like to thank all our faculty and staff again for all your hard work and dedication, especially during the last 17 months of the pandemic. UTRGV is in a good financial situation and all of you are a big reason why.

Sincerely,

Guy Bailey
President
