Our Work Continues - Student Emergency Fund Update

April 13, 2020

Dear UTRGV Family,

These last few weeks have been difficult for everyone, but I am grateful and proud of the way we have come together to face this crisis. I have no doubt that we will come out of this a better and stronger university.

Every week we continue to adapt to ensure that our students are successful and continue to advance through this uncertain period. As you know, many of our students were impacted by unforeseen financial hardships because of the pandemic.

Thanks to the generosity and support from alumni and friends, like you, the UTRGV Student Emergency Fund has awarded more than $200,000 to more than 380 students in need, but our work continues.

Every day we receive hundreds of applications from students requesting assistance and we have nearly exhausted all our funds. We have more than 300 pending requests for assistance by students in need.

Your support is crucial. Now more than ever.

A gift to the UTRGV Student Emergency Fund will allow us to provide the necessary aid to our students in need. One hundred percent of every dollar given will directly benefit and provide relief to a student in need.

We must not allow their education to be compromised by loss of income, food and housing insecurities, or any other unforeseen financial challenges.

We need everyone’s help to ensure our students get through this. I cannot thank you enough for supporting our students during these difficult times.

Thank you for your consideration.

Dr. Guy Bailey
