Message from the President

February 20, 2018

Dear UTRGV Community:

We’ve all heard the saying “Your vote is your voice”, yet far too few of us make our voices heard. According to the non-partisan group, the Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT), the Rio Grande Valley has over a half million registered voters, but only 2 out of 10 people vote. If we truly want our voices to be heard on issues that affect our community, secure funding and resources, and ultimately build a better quality of life for our communities, we must vote.

UTRGV is fortunate to be a polling site for the upcoming local, state and federal primary elections both in Hidalgo and Cameron counties, and early voting will last several days. In addition, UTRGV Vaqueros Vote will host “Get Out The Vote” (GOTV) rallies today, February 20 at the Chapel Lawn on our Edinburg campus, and tomorrow, February 21 at the Main Patio on our Brownsville campus. Candidates and their representatives will be on site for you to meet and discuss issues important to you.

Below are links for early voting sites in Hidalgo and Cameron County for the primary election and a link for the one special election in McAllen for District 1.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
