Message from the President

December 11, 2018

Dear Campus Community,

We are pleased to report that the SACSCOC Board of Trustees announced today at its annual meeting that it removed UTRGV from probationary status based on the university successfully addressing the lone concern cited in its probationary letter of February 5, 2018. As you know, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees also confirmed at their 2017 annual meeting that UTRGV successfully addressed all concerns cited in its probationary letter of January 11, 2017. Please visit our Accreditation (https://www.utrgv.edu/en-us/about-utrgv/accreditation/accreditation-faqs/index.htm) page for additional information.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many staff members who have worked tirelessly on behalf of UTRGV. We prepared diligently for the October 2018 Special Committee visit and deeply appreciate the hard work and support of all of you throughout this year.

As a SACSCOC accredited institution, UTRGV focuses on providing quality programs and services, and engages in processes that ensure continuous improvement. The UTRGV community is focused on the reaffirmation report, which will be submitted on September 1, 2019, as part of the normal accreditation review process all SACSCOC institutions undergo every 10 years. As part of the reaffirmation process, we are actively engaged in the development of our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The QEP provides an opportunity for the campus to develop or strengthen initiatives that support the achievement of student learning outcomes and student success.

Again, thank you for everything you continue to do to make UTRGV a success. We have made significant progress this year. I look forward to working with you to continue this momentum in 2019. Happy Holidays!

Guy Bailey

President
