Blackboard is Moving to the Cloud!

BlackBoard Learn SaaS - An improved online learning evironment coming in Spring 2020!

View updates on this migration.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

COLTT is pleased to announce that Blackboard is moving to the cloud (SaaS) this December. This move will provide improved performance and functionality of the Blackboard Learning Management System. One of the major benefits of our migration is zero or minimal downtime for upgrades. Currently, we must schedule our major upgrades once a year in December. With SaaS, new features and bug fixes can be deployed with no downtime, thus improving the user experience.

Additionally, Blackboard will be able to scale resources during peak times, such as final exams week, to ensure the system doesn’t slow down. In an effort to make this transition as smooth as possible for our users, all courses, organizations, and content will be available in the cloud version of Blackboard. This means the Blackboard you see now will be the Blackboard you see following the migration. As a result, this move will require significate downtime. Blackboard will become unavailable on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, and we anticipate the migration to be completed by Friday, December 20, 2019. During this migration window, users will be unable to access Blackboard or any services that utilize Blackboard for authentication.

Instructors: As a reminder, final grades are due no later than 3 p.m. on Monday, December 16th. Please plan accordingly to meet the deadline given that Blackboard will not be accessible the next day. You may also want to download your Blackboard Gradebook after you are done with grading to have a local copy on your computer.  If you need assistance with this, please contact our helpdesk
