Panopto LTI 1.3

On August 19, 2024, we upgraded the Panopto tools to the new LTI 1.3 integration. This upgrade was mandatory since the old Panopto building block integration will be deprecated on Sep. 30, 2024.

Changes to expect:

New Tools

The new Panopto tools are now labeled as follows under Build Content:

  • Panopto Video Embed Tool (LTI 1.3)
  • Panopto Quizzing Tool (LTI 1.3)
  • Panopto Student Video Submission Tool (LTI 1.3)
  • Panopto Course Folder Tool (LTI 1.3) – Tool Link

Panopto Quiz Tool

Due to these changes, the old quiz tool is no longer functioning. Please delete any old quiz links and embed your quizzes again using the new Quiz Tool (LTI 1.3).

Note that there are some additional updates to the Panopto Quiz Tools. Now, you can grade based on the percentage viewed(grades are not synced to Blackboard immediately) or based on quiz results. For more information, visit the support article for the Panopto Quiz Tool.

Panopto Mashups

The Panopto Mashup is no longer available under Build Content > Mashups. The new way to embed videos is from Build Content > Panopto Video Embed (LTI 1.3). For more information, visit the support article for Panopto Video Embed Options.

Panopto Student Video Assignment

The Student Video Submission Tool is now simpler to integrate as a regular Blackboard assignment. Please refer to this article on How to create video assignments.

The process of submitting assignments is also more straightforward now. Please share these instructions with your students on How to submit video assignments.
