Applying Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get academic advising for the School of Nursing?
- Current Student:
If you are working on your nursing prerequisites at UTRGV or a prospective Second Degree student who has been accepted to UTRGV, you have an assigned academic advisor at the Academic Advising Center.
Please schedule an in-person or virtual appointment with the Academic Advising Center .
- New Prospective student: If you are seeking information on how to get started at UTRGV, you may contact a recruiter at Undergraduate Admissions .
- All prospective BSN Applicants who have not been accepted to UTRGV or Nursing:
- We recommend that you attend a BSN Information Session. These sessions are offered each Spring and Fall and are conducted by the BSN Program Coordinators/Faculty.
- Contact the School of Nursing and a SON staff member will assist you.
- Course substitution questions, can be sent to the appropriate BSN Coordinator. Be sure to include the course number and title and the institution where you took the course along with the course you believe is equivalent in an email. Attach an unofficial copy of your transcript. Remember the official transcripts should be submitted to UTRGV for official evaluation first before requesting course substitutions. Course substitutions cannot be processed unless an applicant is accepted to the School of Nursing.
