Associate Chief Information Officer (CIO) for IT Enterprise Systems

Jose Hinojosa is the Associate Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Enterprise Systems at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Mr. Hinojosa provides leadership for the areas of Information Technology (IT) that manage the administrative systems and related application eco-systems that support the University’s academic and business processes. His office is primarily responsible for the strategic oversight of the Information Technology Enterprise Systems and he directly supervises the units in the areas of Enterprise Information Systems, Enterprise Development, and Business Information Systems.

Prior to serving as Associate CIO, Mr. Hinojosa served as director of the University’s data center. He participates in the Oracle Applications and Technology Users Groups and is a facilitator for the Administrative Services Governance Sub-Committee. He has over 26 years of experience as an information technology professional in higher education in various IT roles.

Mr. Hinojosa holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas-Pan American (now UTRGV). He is certified as a Data Center Infrastructure Specialist (DCIS), Data Center Operations Specialist (DCOS), and Data Center Operations Manager (DCOM) by International Data Center Authority (IDCA). He is also certified in ITIL v3 Foundation in IT Service Management (ITSM).

IT Enterprise Systems

Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) provides services that support the University’s academic and business processes. EIS works closely with the University's business offices to implement, build and/or enhance solutions to meet business operational needs of automation, data integrations, and problem solutions.

Enterprise Development provides web, application development, portal, and mobile services and support for students, faculty, and staff at UTRGV.

Business Information Systems is dedicated to supporting the Divisional and University missions, in collaboration with other departments and/or divisions, by providing essential information system services to Finance and Administration departments in implementing, supporting and maintaining our administrative information applications, streamlining and automating business processes to ensure business continuity and process efficiency.
