Dr. Godfrey Ovwigho


Assistant Chief Information Officer for Information Systems for the School of Medicine

Dr. Godfrey Ovwigho is the Assistant Chief Information Officer for Information Systems for the School of Medicine. He has over 20 years of information technology experience in a variety of professional roles ranging from administrative and instructional to research.

Prior to joining UTRGV, Dr. Ovwigho served as Vice President for Information Technology at The University of Toledo and Chief Information Officer at the University of Akron, among other positions with other organizations spanning 30 years.

Dr. Ovwigho received a bachelor’s degree in Science from Edo State University, a Master of Science in Information Technology for Manufacturing from The University of Warwick, and a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in Leadership and Educational Administration from Bowie State University/Capella University.
