Education Abroad

Education abroad is for everyone. Every year UTRGV students overcome barriers to achieve their dream to journey abroad and discover the world.

Mission Statement

Education Abroad (EA) advances the goals of International Study Programs by offering undergraduate and graduate students a unique, life-changing, educational experience overseas. It facilitates opportunities for students to participate in faculty-led, reciprocal exchange, and affiliated third-party providers of learning abroad as well as research initiatives, internship opportunities, non-credit experiential learning, and volunteer activities.

Academics

Completing a college degree is about growth and transformation. Studying abroad is a high-impact learning experience that will force you to change the way you think about the world. You will be immersed in a new location and will visit the sites that you are reading about in your course work. You will learn about the social, legal, economic, political, and technological (SLEPT) aspects of the location. Students that engage in study abroad return to their degree program more motivated and more engaged.

Personal Growth

Study abroad students undergo tremendous personal growth because of their experiences abroad. Immersing yourself in a new surroundings causes you to reflect on your own culture, values, and perspectives. Students that go abroad return transformed by the experience. Education abroad is also highly regarded by employers and professional schools.
