Semester-Long/Year-Long Study Abroad
The long-term (individual) programs are opportunities for students to study abroad for one semester or a full academic year. An IPP Specialist helps the student choose a program in a foreign institution that is best suited and beneficial for the student's academic needs.

Step 1: Meet with Advisor
- Schedule an appointment with IPP to review application packet and select the location of Study Abroad.
Step 2: Complete Application
- Submit a complete application (the application will be available in Fall 2020) with the required documents online.
- Write a letter of intent (explaining your purpose and goals for the program you wish to enroll, limit 300 words.)
- Get a letter of recommendation from a UTRGV faculty member.
- Official transcript from the Registrars Office in a sealed envelope. (Undergraduate: minimum 30 credits hours and 2.0 GPA / Graduate: 3.0 GPA)
- 2 passport pictures (2 x 2in)
- Copy of passport.
- Copy of visa (if applicable)
- Copy of the Foreign Student Application Form.
- Copy of the Foreign Program Acceptance Letter.
- UTRGV Long Term Study Abroad Student Cost Sheet.
- Pay NON-REFUNDABLE $125 deposit for study abroad program.
Step 3: Orientation
- International S.O.S. Registration
- Attend orientation and pre-departure meeting.
