International Undergraduate Admissions

International Deadlines for Undergraduate Admissions:

Since processing applications from international students takes more time, UTRGV has different application deadlines for international applicants. All required documents and test scores must be submitted no later than:

  • Priority Admissions Deadline: February 1, for Fall, Summer I and Summer II
  • Late Admissions Deadline (Overseas Applicants): June 1 for Fall
  • Late Admissions Deadline (Mexican Nationals): June 30 for Fall
  • Late Admission Deadline: December 1 for Spring Admission
  • May 1 for Summer I admission
  • June 1 for Summer II admission

Prospective International Undergraduate Students:

To successfully complete your international application for admission to UTRGV, you’ll need to complete the following requirements:

  • Step 1: Submit International Admission Application

    • Submit an International Admission Application at www.applytexas.org. Note: A $50 application fee will apply.
    • Have your official transcripts evaluated and the transcript evaluation report completed by either Foreign Credential Services of America (FCSA Application) or World Education Services (WES).*Students who have not yet graduated from high school must have their fifth semester transcript evaluated by one of the agencies mentioned above. After graduation, students must submit an official high school transcript to the same agency for a final evaluation.  
    • Complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Sign up for TOEFL. Note: The minimum scores for the tests are as follow: TOEFL IBT 61, TOEFL PB 500, TOEFL CBT 173, and IELTS 6. Students who submit documentation demonstrating successful completion of ESL Advanced Level course through The UTRGV Language Institute can be waived from TOEFL requirement.
    • Submit your ACT or SAT test scores directly from the testing agency. To submit test scores to UTRGV please use the following codes: ACT 6991 and SAT 6568. To visit their websites, please refer to the following links: (SIGN UP FOR ACT) and/or (SIGN UP FOR SAT).
    • Submit your Texas Success Initiative (TSI) scores.

    Note: TSI is mandatory in order to register for classes and can be taken upon arrival to campus. For students that live close to the area, you may take the TSI at UTRGV Testing Centers.

  • Step 2: After Admission

    Once you have received your acceptance letter, you must turn in the following documents to the International Admissions and Student Services.

    Once we receive all the required documents mentioned above and determine your student visa eligibility, International Admissions and Student Services will issue an I-20 form. The form I-20 will be mailed to your home address or if you live by the area, you can also pick it up in our office.

  • Step 3: Register for International Student Orientation

    International Orientation and Student Support

    Our orientation program for international students will help you meet fellow students and gain important information about things like international admissions, immigration rules and regulations, academic requirements, advising, financial services, housing, health care, career placement, campus technical support, and much more.
