Undergraduate students must maintain a total 2.0 GPA or higher in order to avoid being placed on academic probation. If an undergraduate student begins a semester on academic probation and does not remove him/herself from academic probation status (achieve a total GPA higher than 2.0) then the student will be placed on academic suspension. Please read the information below, you may also find additional information in the Undergraduate Catalog on pages 80 - 82.

Master level students must maintain a total 3.0 GPA or higher and doctoral students must maintain a 3.25 GPA or higher on all graduate coursework in order to avoid being placed on probation or suspension. Please make sure to visit with your program advisor in order to make sure no other specific requirements exist for your academic program. A suspended graduate student may petition for readmissions. Please read more on the Graduate Catalog 2017-2018 or contact the Graduate College for additional information.
As an F-1 student, if you are placed on academic suspension, you will not be permitted to register for classes at UTRGV for the following semester. This action will impact your F-1 status since international students are required to be enrolled full-time.*
