Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

Department of Labor (DOL)

Social Security Administration (SSA)
Social Security has provided financial protection for our nation's people for over 80 years. Chances are, you either receive Social Security benefits or know someone who does. With retirement, disability, and survivors benefits, Social Security is one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in our nation's history.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Proactively protect the citizens of Texas in an ever changing threat environment while always remaining faithful to the U.S. and State Constitution.

Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security (DOC/BIS)
Advance U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership.

Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
The Internal Revenue Service is the nation's tax collection agency and administers the Internal Revenue Code enacted by Congress.

U.S. Munitions List (USML)
Is a list of articles, services, and related technology designated as defense- and space-related by the United States federal government. This designation is pursuant to sections 38 and 47(7) of the Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. 2778 and 2794(7)). These articles fall under the export and temporary import jurisdiction of the Department of State.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)
The American Immigration Lawyers Association is the national association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.

Association of International Educators (NAFSA)
Association of International Educators is the world's largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange. NAFSA's 10,000 members are located at more than 3,500 institutions worldwide, in over 150 countries.

UTRGV’s Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP)
This Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP) of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley contains policies and procedures for the governance of UTRGV. Policies connect UTRGV’s mission to individual conduct, clarify institutional expectations, support compliance with laws and regulations, mitigate risk, and enhance productivity and efficiency in operations. UTRGV and its activities are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System. In the event of any conflict between the Regents’ Rules and Regulations and any policies or procedures in this HOP, the Regents’ Rules and Regulations shall govern.

They work according to a well-formulated ethical standard in the field of foreign educational evaluation in order to serve people who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States and who are seeking further education (or even professional licensure or employment in the USA). 

J1 Waiver
If you are unable to return to your home country to fulfill the two-year requirement, you must obtain a waiver approved by the Department of Homeland Security prior to changing status in the United States or being issued a visa in certain categories for travel to the United States.
