For Prospective Students
Admission to the Honors College
The UTRGV Honors College is open to students pursuing any major.
New students coming directly from high school may be admitted to the Honors College if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Top 10% of graduating class
- ACT composite score of 24 or higher, or equivalent SAT
Students in high schools that do not rank their students, and students who have not been able to take the ACT or SAT for any reason, are still encouraged to apply.
Students with 12 or more credits from UTRGV, or from another college or university (not dual enrollment or concurrent enrollment) may be admitted to the Honors College if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Students graduating from the UTRGV Math and Science Academy earn up to 9 credits of lower-division honors coursework as high school students.
Students transferring from South Texas College's honors program can have up to 9 credit hours of their STC honors coursework count towards UTRGV Honors College graduation requirements.
