COVID-19 Resources
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley understands that its campus community and outside stakeholders value information related to the Coronavirus Pandemic. This page provides information and links to resources intended to assist people overcome the negative impacts of COVID-19. FEDERAL LEGISLATION
Four packages of legislation have been passed by Congress and enacted as follows:
- H.R. 6074 / Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020
- Enacted 6 March 2020
- $8.3 billion bill spurring coronavirus vaccine research and development.
- H.R. 6201 / Families First Coronavirus Response Act
- Enacted 18 March 2020
- $104 billion package largely focused on paid sick leave and unemployment benefits for workers and families.
- H.R. 748 / Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security (CARES) Act
- Enacted 27 March 2020
- $2 trillion package providing thousands of dollars in direct payments to most Americans, a huge loan package designed to help keep small businesses afloat, hospital and healthcare assistance, disaster and mitigation funding, public and higher education funding, and an industry bailout for airlines and others.
- H.R. 266 / Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act
- Enacted 24 April 2020
- $321 billion in additional funding for a small-business loan program that includes $60 billion to be set aside for small lenders.
- $60 billion for small-business disaster loans and grants.
- $75 billion for hospitals.
- $25 billion for coronavirus testing.
