GA Faculty Award
Eligibility:
Nominations including self-nominations are accepted for full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who have demonstrated excellence in the promotion of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) globalization of its teaching, research, and/or service.
Award: $1,250
Criteria
Nominees must:
- Be full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who have been in residence at UTRGV for at least two academic years prior to the year of nomination;
- And if a previous Global Affairs Faculty Award recipient, submit the nomination no earlier than in the third academic year following a prior award.
The application portfolio must be submitted as (1) PDF document. Documents should be merged in the following order:
- Nomination letter
- One-page statement of the globalization philosophy by the nominee. This should be a self-reflective statement of the nominee's beliefs and goals concerning the UTRGV campus globalization process and should discuss specifics of how they have put their beliefs into practice to achieve UTRGV globalization goals.
- Nominee’s curriculum vitae, that focuses on his/her contributions to one or more of the following internationally related activities:
- Leadership in education abroad
- Development or redesign of curricular, co-curricular, or area studies
- Foreign languages immersion
- Recruiting of international faculty and visiting scholars
- Promoting and enhancing meaningful strategic partnerships
- Engagement in multicultural campus activities
- Other significant programming initiatives such as international research grants or Fulbright designation
Applications must be electronically submitted no later than Tuesday, April 30, 2024 to Global Affairs at global.affairs@utrgv.edu.
The Global Affairs Advisory Council is charged with evaluating the applications. They will make their recommendations and submit all relevant materials to Dr. Jaime Ortiz.
