Summer Writing Program

Thank you for your interest in the Summer Writing Program. At this time, the application cycle is closed.

  • All full-time UTRGV faculty are eligible for the program. However, we ask that faculty members do not apply to the program if they have major travel plans for the summer as this often negatively impacts success in the program.
  • To be eligible for travel funding, participants must complete a manuscript or grant proposal during the 12-week cycle. Evidence that this completed manuscript/grant proposal was submitted to a refereed journal, conference proceedings, or funding agency must be sent to the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) by the cycle's stated deadline.
  • Active participation in at least six meetings scheduled during the summer is required to qualify for travel funds.
  • Travel funding will support academic travel (for research, conference presentations, etc.) and must be documented. While travel does not have to be associated with the Summer Writing Program project, costs must be substantiated and pre-approved (e.g. estimates from travel agencies or websites, federal per diems, registration receipts). Travel must occur after the completion of the Summer Writing Program cycle.
  • Although all faculty are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those faculty who have not participated in a Summer Writing Program or the ADVANCE Summer Writing Retreat.
