Effective Online Teaching Practices and
Effective Teaching Practices
The University of Texas System will sponsor two UTRGV cohorts to participate in this evidence-based, 25-week online program. Each cohort may consist of up to 30 full-time faculty members with 60 total faculty participating.
Applications are now being accepted for the following Spring 2023 ACUE cohorts:
- Effective Online Teaching Practices
- Effective Teaching Practices
Focused on proven teaching practices that improve student achievement and close equity gaps, the course modules will intentionally engage participating faculty in high-impact and cutting-edge pedagogical skills in the following areas of study:
- Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Leaning Environment
- Promote Active Learning Online and In Person
- Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses
- Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners in Your Course
Upon completion, faculty will receive a Certificate in Effective College Instruction (CECI). This is the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).
Timeline:
- Applications due October 28, 2022. Apply here.
- Application evaluation occurs & all applicants are notified of selection by December 9, 2022.
- Course begins January 9, 2023.
o Cohorts typically complete one module per week over 25 weeks.
o Participants generally spend approximately 2-3 hours of activity per week, on average, in the course according to ACUE internal research.
