Learn about Faculty Recruitment
As The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) evolves into a research university, it is committed to building a highly qualified and diverse faculty in support of academic excellence. Your service as a Search Committee member and/or as an Equity & Diversity Advocate (EDA) is instrumental to this commitment.
For the UTRGV Faculty Recruitment process, a manual has been developed to assist our departments and search committee members. The manual provides guidance to ensure a fair and effective process to follow as you recruit colleagues to serve our diverse student population.
For more information on developing your search committee see the UTRGV Faculty Recruitment Manual

Faculty Search Training Requirements
The Office of Faculty Success & Diversity will provide training in best practices for recruiting and hiring diverse faculty in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity.
All faculty serving on search committees are required to complete the mandatory online training in order to participate in the faculty search process. Training is required to be completed every two (2) years with the EDAs completing an instructor-led training as well. All members appointed to a search committee are required to complete the following module via Blackboard:
- Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity – EO Faculty Search Committee Training*
This is the only module that is required to be completed in order to participate as a Faculty Search Committee Member or an Equity & Diversity Advocate. UTRGV credentials must be used to login.
