Departments should develop their own departmental emergency procedures in the event the University is threatened by a storm.

Steps to take in order to prepare your work area:

  • Clear desktops completely of paper and other articles, and place these items in drawers or file cabinets.
  • Back-up critical computer files using OneDrive.
  • Unplug all computers and other electronic equipment, cover with plastic, and tape down.
  • Move desks, file cabinets, computer systems, and irreplaceable materials away from windows and at least two feet off the ground floor.
  • Lock file cabinets and desk drawers.
  • Close and lock windows and lower blinds.
  • Lock and secure all doors.
  • Remove all loose items (garbage cans, chairs, tables, plants, etc.) from outside the buildings.
  • Take all of your personal possessions home.

Don’t return to the workplace until the "all clear" is given from University officials.
