About us
The Lab for Data Intelligence and Security (DIS) at UT Rio Grande Valley is aimed at advancing the frontiers of data science, particularly in the intelligence and security aspects of big data. While data is exponentially growing, people are easily overwhelmed and lost in the data ocean. How to derive knowledge and intelligence from data and how to manipulate valuable data in a secure way is the focus of our research interests.
Our passion is not only in cutting-edge research, but also in serving the national and local needs of expertise, skills, tools in data applications. We develop data tools and provide free consulting services for our community. Our students are encouraged to help local companies to solve their IT problems through senior projects, interns and etc. Our lab grows on the soil of community services.
