About Our Center

Founded in 2017, the Center for Vector-Borne, Zoonotic, and Emerging Diseases is a multidisciplinary, multi-departmental institute at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), focused on studying vector-borne diseases. These diseases can affect humans, animals, and plants.

Faculty at the center study all aspects of disease transmission, including interactions between hosts, pathogens, and vectors, as well as epidemiology, prediction methods, and control strategies.

Our mission is to advance research, education, and community outreach in this critical field—join us! For more information, call our Center at (956) 665-7170 or email us at cvbzed@utrgv.edu. We look forward to connecting with you.

Advance research. Protect communities. Make an impact.
