Our faculty engages in research that includes our region's unique biodiversity and well beyond, from the atomic nature of cells to the vastness of the universe. SIBCS faculty have been awarded millions of dollars in research funding from national and international agencies such as the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, US Department of Agriculture, NASA, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Welch Foundation, Wellcome Trust, ConTex, and many more. Many research projects are student-led for undergraduate and graduate students, including fieldwork, lab work, presentations, and conferences.
Our students have received awards for best poster presentations, travel awards for conferences, scholarships, and fellowships to attend national internships and graduate programs. Our alumni join the workforce in their dream careers!
