Spring 2020 CoBiVa Team

Join us in welcoming our wonderful research assistants who have been working hard to make progress on the Corpus Bilingüe del Valle (CoBiVa). Read below to learn a bit more about our Spring 2020 CoBiVa Team.

Portrait of Rene Cabrera Ríos

Rene Cabrera Ríos is an undergraduate student in his last semester in his BA in English with a concentration in linguistics. His is interested in sociolinguistic research and the documentation and preservation of endangered languages. He plans to start the MA English Linguistics program at UTRGV in Fall 2020, and he has recently been awarded the prestigious Presidential Research Grant Award (PGRA) for his MA degree.

Elsa Magaña is a UTRGV student pursuing a double major in Spanish and Spanish Translation & Interpretation, This is her last semester as an undergraduate, and she plans to start in the MA Spanish program at UTRGV in Fall 2020.

Norma Rodríguez is in her last semester as an undergraduate at UTRGV. She is pursing a BA in Spanish and a minor in ESL instruction. She plans to start the MA Spanish program at UTRGV in Fall 2020.

Aubrey Villanueva is an undergraduate student at UTRGV with a concentration in Linguistics. She received the Engaged Student Award for her participation on the CoBiVa project, and she also has been featured in the UTRGV Profiles in Excellence. She will start the MA ESL program at UTRGV in Fall 2020, and she has recently been awarded the prestigious Presidential Research Grant Award (PGRA) for her MA degree.
