If you have a scheduled exam, please reach out to the testing center where you have registered to get information on any special procedures that testing center has put in place. You can also contact the TExES test vendor, Pearson, at https://www.tx.nesinc.com/ for more information about certification testing during this time.

Clinical Teaching Handbook

Clinical teachers are responsible for reviewing information contained in the Clinical Teaching Program Handbook.


Programs
  • Elementary Teacher Education Program (EC-6) specializations in special education, bilingual, ESL, or early childhood
  • All-Level (EC-12) Teacher Education Program
  • Middle School (4-8) Teacher Education Program
  • High School (7-12) Teacher Education Program
  • Math and Science UTeach Program

Candidates should ONLY apply to Student Teaching if the following requirements have been met:


GPA and Academic Coursework Grades
  • 2.5 GPA in each area of degree plan (i.e., major, minor/specialization, professional education);
  • 2.5 GPA overall on degree plan;

TExES Passing Scores
  • Core Subjects (EC-6) #291 (All Elementary):
  • Respective Content Exam;
    • English 4-8 and English 7-12;
    • Kinesiology;
    • History and Social Studies Composite;
    • Mathematics 4-8;
    • Mathematics 7-12;
    • Chemistry 7-12;
    • Science 4-8;
    • Life Science 7-12;
    • Physical Science 6-12;
    • Physics/Mathematics 7-12;
    • AND
  • Professional and Pedagogy Responsibilities exam #160 (All).

Creating your testing account

And educator candidate’s testing account is separate from the TEA account. State exams are administered through Pearson. Learn how to create your testing account.


Field Experiences
  • Complete all field hours required by program.

Degree Plan Completion
  • Within 12 hours of completing degree plan (graduation); these 12 include 6 hours of student teaching coursework);
  • Complete all education courses.

Other Program Requirements
  • Any other specific program requirements if applicable; consult with your academic department.

Any student seeking exemption status must complete an application for Student Teaching Exemption (EAE candidates) with our office. These students must meet all requirements mentioned above, submit official Financial Aid Educational Aide Exemption award letter and meet other institutional requirements.
