All-Level/Secondary Education Minor
The All Level/Secondary minor consists of 21-hour education courses that lead to teacher certification. Formal admission to the All-Level/Secondary Teacher Certification Program is required including completing an application via Tk20, clearing a criminal background check, having a minimum 2.75 GPA, meeting scores on basic skills tests among other requirements. In accordance to the state of Texas regulations and polices, full program admission requirements may be found at: https://www.utrgv.edu/cep/oepa.
The teacher education program culminates with a full time, full semester clinical teaching experience in a state-accredited school placement. If your academic major has a corresponding certification field (subject that may be taught in secondary schools), you may be eligible. For a full list of our program’s approved certification field refer to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) in Texas dashboard map. Please refer to the table below for some specific examples.
