Those Who Can, Teach! Summer Camp

Welcome to the Those Who Can, Teach Summer Camp!

Teaching is one of the most important, challenging, and satisfying professions in today’s society. Teachers have the potential to impact hundreds of young lives throughout their careers and are key to helping their students develop the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in life. Teachers are highly talented, creative, and dedicated individuals who make a difference in the world.

Summer 2019 marks the 4th summer Those Who Can, Teach! has been offered by the College of Education & P-16 Integration at UTRGV. TWCT brings together students from high schools across the Rio Grande Valley for a week of engaging and creative activities designed to explore the teaching profession and the qualities of excellent teaching, all in a fun and dynamic learning environment on the two main UTRGV campuses (Edinburg and Brownsville).

During the week-long camp, students explore the teaching profession through guided activities of academic inquiry, interviews, and self-reflection, while working collaboratively with one another. A major focus of the camp is to help students develop their ability to use current educational technologies to conduct research and design multi-media presentations.

Opportunities and outcomes for students will include:

  • Better understanding of the teaching profession and qualities of excellent teaching.
  • Increased skill in using current educational technologies for research and presentation.
  • Opportunities to work creatively in teams and develop collaboration skills in learning and teaching.
  • New understandings about academic inquiry and research.
