Academy for Success 2018

This summer academy program at UTRGV offers talented students the resources to present strong credentials for success in the Physician Assistant curriculum by providing a solid foundation in the basic sciences in anatomy and physiology and learning skills.

Active Leadership for IT Professionals

While fluency and decoding skills are a part of good reading, the ultimate goal of reading is comprehension. Good readers create meaning from texts using a variety of comprehension skills. In this workshop, participants will learn a variety of teaching strategies that will improve comprehension skills, especially for below-grade level readers.

Campus Suicide Prevention Training Program

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine’s Office of Counseling and Wellness was awarded a 3 year grant in the amount of $304,490.00 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to implement a Campus Suicide Prevention Program (CSPP) in collaboration with the UTRGV Counseling Center (CC) and the Office of Continuing Education.

Clinical Interventions Series

UTRGV Continuing Education and the Department of Social Work have partnered to offer professionals in the social services sector the chance to continue building their skills with this new Clinical Intervention Series. During each workshop, participants will gain hands on experience in a range of mental health topics including techniques for counseling children with anxiety, helping others deal with the effects of terminal illness, and understanding how shame and guilt drives human behavior.

College application essays can be the make-it-or-break-it point in the application process. Submitting an application essay that is boring, under-developed, and with grammatical errors will send the wrong message, and can be the reason a student does not get accepted into their college of choice.

Creating Motivated and Engaged Readers
