The invention of smartphones and photo filters has turned almost everyone into a photographer. However, good photography requires a strong sense of creativity and aesthetics, coupled with a range of technical skills.

This course will cover content designed to improve your digital photography skills and teach you what is needed to create a quality photograph. An emphasis will be placed on putting the rules of composition into practice and learning to use lights and shadows to your advantage.

Session Details:



• Identifying characteristics of a quality photograph
• Using rules of composition for higher quality, visually appealing shots
• Best practices for black and white photography
• Using the decisive moment concept to capture intuitive photographs

Anyone interested in learning photography.



Note: PEWD program participants should be 18 years or older.

No prerequisites needed.

For this session, participants can bring any type of digital camera.

Mr. Carlos Bortoni


Carlos Bortoni is a Marketer and Commercial Photographer who has created images since 2005. His work has been featured on the week 5 Portrait Gallery at National Geographic´s Virtual Gallery, Revista Troleo (Fishing Magazine), 2011 2nd Edition of the People & Portraits Book by The Gala Awards, 2012 Street Photography by The Gala Awards, WPGA London (2 Honorable Mentions), and Living Magazine. He has also received 1st place at a photography contest held by Revista Troleo, sponsored by Costa Sunglasses, and 3rd place at a photoshop contest held by Focal Press.
