Digital Marketing has become an essential skill in a world driven by technology and innovative communication. You will learn how to promote and sell products and services through online marketing methods such as social media messaging, website ads, Facebook marketing campaigns, Google Adwords, and more. This hybrid course will consist of online and in-person classes and will cover strategic issues, marketing methods and tactics, industry terminology, and best practices.


Online Instructional Hours:  30 hours

In-Class Instructional Hours:  9 hours


Anyone interested in developing a comprehensive understanding of digital marketing plan, content creation, increasing web traffic; expanding both audience and social media presence for their organization or themselves.


Basic understanding of marketing, business communication, the internet, and social media is recommended to benefit the most from this certificate program.


Alex Garrido 

Josse “Alex” Garrido is the director of digital marketing and marketing analytics at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. For over six years, he has successfully led digital marketing campaigns from inception to completion in both higher education and the private sector.

He often is an invited speaker at district and regional conferences where he shares the latest insights in digital marketing technologies and industry best practices. Mr. Garrido also co-teaches the Social Media Management Certificate course at UTRGV Continuing Education.


Daniel Ramirez

Daniel currently serves as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing at South Texas College. He is data-driven marketing and communications professional with over 17 years of experience in the higher education industry. He has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas-Pan American and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Media Management from Arkansas State University.
