Program Description:
This 30-hour hands-on program is designed for those interested in learning about event planning and the event industry. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge about event planning and develop a customized toolkit they can apply for every event they will manage in the future. This course will include classroom time and site visits to event planning facilities. Upon successfully completing this course, students will understand: the structure of successful event planning, best practices, and become proficient at coordinating special events (i.e. large scale social celebrations, corporate events, and banquets).

Course topics include:

  • Event blueprint
  • Risk management
  • Social media marketing
  • Financial planning
  • Entrepreneurship.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from experienced professionals in the event industry.

  • Ms. Massiel Muñoz, MBA

    Massiel Muñoz, MBA, has over 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She has held a number of roles throughout her professional career covering, trade shows, human resources, and sales & catering. She has worked with a number of corporation including Pack Expo, Samsung Group, Varsity Spirit, and Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Among these events include special collaborations that facilitated distinguished speakers such as journalist Laura Ling and signer/song writer John Legend. In Fall of 2018, she presented an Event Planners Network session during the regional conference of Association of College Union International (ACUI). Mrs. Muñoz has a keen eye for detail; she is passionate about logistics and the service industry. She has a Bachelor's in Hospitality Management from UNT, Denton TX and a Master of Business Administration from UTRGV, Edinburg.
