  • Module 1 - Content Creation: Making High Quality and Affordable Digital Content for your Audience.

    Creating a web presence with good quality content sets companies and organizations on the right path to make the most of their audiences. Before taking a leap into the world of social media marketing, it’s important to develop a specific and individualized marketing and content strategy for your online properties. This module will introduce participants to best practices for creating digital content that not only pleases your target audience, but also makes the most of social networks, blogging, micro-blogging and other online media vehicles.

  • Module 2 - Social Media Marketing: Leveraging Social Connections for Successful Engagement.

    Starting a social media marketing campaign involves planning, preparation and an understanding of social media rules of engagement. In the age of social networks, online reviews and fluid forms of feedback, close personal connections combined with sincere audience engagement creates long-lasting success. This module will guide participants from initial entry strategies through managing ongoing marketing efforts with an eye on success, building trust and crafting appeals with maximum effectiveness.
  • Module 3 - Search Engine Marketing: Creating successful AdWords and Display Campaigns.

    While organic search engine optimization should be a priority for all website owners, sometimes you need to reach more people with more keywords. Organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) takes time and you need to be careful not to "over optimize" and get a manual penalty from Google. However, AdWords allow you to jump pass organic efforts and expand your reach to people who might otherwise never visit your website. Armed with the right data, Google AdWords, and its Display Network, can significantly increase your brand awareness while keeping your marketing budget low. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of a successful AdWords campaign, the secrets behind landing page optimization, and how to find profitable keywords that align with your target audience.
  • Module 4 - Web Analytics: Unlocking the Secrets Behind your Website.

    Your website is a treasure chest of valuable information about your audience. By understanding how people interact with your site, you can learn to optimize your marketing campaigns and increase your conversion rates significantly. From "what day of the week you should post a blog entry for maximum outreach" to "how to design your website to keep your visitors satisfied". Google Analytics can help you find opportunities for growth within your website and show you what marketing campaigns are working and which ones are not. This course also covers other forms of web analytics like Facebook Audience Insights and Google Trends.
  • Module 5 - Capstone Project: Creating a Holistic Digital Marketing Campaign.

    The single most important action a marketer can take to ensure the success of a social media marketing campaign is to develop a solid plan. The capstone project will start from defining organizational needs to crafting messages, strategies, budgets, and measuring campaign success drawing upon all aspects of the program and will guides participants in creating their own social media marketing plan drawing upon best practices and techniques.

    This module is designed specifically for those who have completed all other modules as it includes a project that students will complete. There is no separate registration required as long as you have completed modules 1-4.

  • Alex Garrido

    Alex Garrido is a passionate learner who enjoys finding creative solutions for small businesses. With a degree in Psychology from The University of Texas-Pan American, he has always been interested in human behavior and motivation. He holds a certification in website applications development from the University of Houston and is Google Adwords, Google Analytics, and Google Video Advertising Certified. He is currently pursuing his MS in Data Analytics from Southern New Hampshire University. Mr. Garrido has previously taught digital marketing, social media and web design related courses for the Office of Continuing Education.

    His passion towards new technologies is what led him to co-found Red Ant Digital Marketing, an online marketing firm with over 90 clients across the U.S. He has been serving as the Graduate Student Recruiter for UTPA Graduate School since 2013 where he helps them expand their online and international outreach. He also holds an appointment with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as the Digital Marketing Manager.
  • Luis Alaniz

    Luis Alaniz is a life-long Internet aficionado, advertising fanatic and marketing enthusiast. With a Master’s degree in Communication, a graduate certificate in Media Relations and Strategic Communication, a bachelor’s degree in Advertising & Public Relations and an Associate’s degree in Marketing, his knowledge runs the gamut.

    He has worked as marketing director for Iconic Deity Design House since 2008 where he specializes in best practices for small-to-midsize businesses and non-profit groups. Recently he served as the lead graphic designer for The Graduate School at UTPA where he spearheaded local and international advertising campaigns.

    Alaniz is also an educator, having taught numerous communication courses and is also a public speaking coach with hundreds of hours of experience focusing on crafting highly effective messages.
  • Ivan Silva

    Ivan Silva is an experienced communication professional who is also a dedicated and motivated educator. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication, graduate certificates in Media relations and Training and Consulting, and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations.

    As a self-dubbed media aficionado, he believes that fusing today’s technology with time-proven techniques and methods allows a message to be delivered with both quality and effectiveness. Ivan has served as creative director for Iconic Deity Design House since 2008 where he focuses on content creation, media relations, and generating targeted social media interactions. His entrepreneurial desires led him to develop a local website (McAllenMetroJobs.com) to assist with his own personal efforts in job searches and later expanded into a partnership that has gained both traction and popularity. Grassroots marketing and social media marketing have been key assets in the projects goals and development. Silva has taught numerous courses for continuing education, including various test prep courses and photoshop modules of the WebDesign Certificate Program. He currently works as a teacher for La Joya ISD.
