Hire An Intern
Internships are an excellent way for your company to find and train the brightest young minds entering the professional world. An internship enables the student to gain experiential learning and experience as a professional under conditions that are conducive to educational development. It should allow the students to use their skills, allow for personal and professional development, and most importantly be an enjoyable experience. Visit our Internships for Employers page for insight into our internship program, resources, and more.
If your company does not have a formal internship program, the University Career Center can provide information and resources to assist you in the development of a program. For more information on how to begin please contact our office for further details. You may also refer to our Employer Internship Guide.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is continuing to closely monitor the challenges associated with COVID-19 and its impact on student internships. As such, we encourage our employer partners to consider posting short-term, professional, paid work experiences (i.e. Micro-Internships) which can be completed remotely.
Beyond providing you or your colleagues with immediate support on tasks, they also support your university recruiting efforts during this challenging time. Specifically, Micro-Internships help you identify, assess, and nurture students who may be prospective job candidates.
For students, Micro-Internships allow them to demonstrate their skills, explore career paths, and build relationships with prospective employers. These paid opportunities typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work and are projects that are similar to those completed during a typical internship.
Micro-Internships can be completed across all departments including:
- Human Resources
- Operations and Support
- Finance and Accounting
UTRGV has partnered with Parker Dewey to connect employers with students for short-term, professional, paid work experiences. Regardless of your role, industry, or organization size, students and alumni from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley can help. If you want to expand your recruiting pool to access diverse talent with 21st century skills and the grit to succeed, Micro-Internships make it easy. Get started in posting your first micro-internship.
