B3 Library Research Guides
The Office for Bilingual Integration and UTRGV University Library is pleased to announce a call for applications for faculty participants to develop B3 (bilingual, biliterate, bicultural) Library Research Guides. Library Research Guides curate recommended library resources in various subjects and disciplines, which may be used by students and faculty as a starting point for research. This program is designed to provide interested faculty with guidance, mentorship, and support to plan and design a library research guide in their specific subject area with Spanish language, bilingual (Spanish/English) and culturally relevant resources which align with the mission of the Office for Bilingual Integration.
B3 Library Research Guide Program (Spring 2025)
This program will include ten (10) interdisciplinary faculty participants committed to enhancing teaching, learning, and research at UTRGV through the development of a B3 library research guide in their subject area. Faculty participants must commit to identifying Spanish language, bilingual (Spanish/English) and culturally relevant resources for their subject area which will be added to a new B3 Library Research guide.
Faculty members must also commit to meeting with their designated library team member at least three times during Spring 2025 in addition to two in-person sessions at the times and dates listed below.
Wed., Feb. 5th 1:00-3:00pm (Brownsville and Edinburg, connected via ITV)
Mon., Apr. 28th 1:00-2:00pm (Brownsville and Edinburg, connected via ITV)
At the initial session, we will present an example subject area specific Library Resource Guide (ex., B3 Music Resources) and connect faculty and library teams. The session at the end of the semester will be a celebration and recognition of faculty and librarians.
In sum, each selected faculty member must attend and actively participate in the in-person sessions and at least three other virtual meetings with library staff to discuss the development of the B3 Library Research Guide in their subject area. They will submit B3 related resources to library staff and engage in the development of a B3 library research guide for their subject area. These include researching and identifying Spanish language, bilingual (Spanish/English) and culturally relevant resources that may take the form of reference resources, databases, books, articles, archives, websites, and museums, among other options.
Each faculty participant will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the workshop and submission of all workshop deliverables.
