Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the B3 Scholar Seal
Do AP Spanish credits, dual enrollment Spanish courses, and Spanish courses transferred from other universities count toward the B3 Scholar Seal?
Yes! We will count a maximum of the equivalent of 2 Spanish courses across these different areas towards the B3 Scholar Seal:
- An AP score of 3 or higher will count as the equivalent of 2 courses
- Any 2000 level or above Spanish Dual Enrollment courses will count.
- If you are transferring Spanish courses from other universities, please contact us at b3scholar@utrgv.edu for review.
The reason we will not count more than 2 courses from AP credit, dual enrollment or transferred courses is that the B3 Scholar Seal is primarily meant to reflect an experience at UTRGV.
I am graduating in December. Will I still be able to participate in the B3 Scholar Pinning Ceremony?
Yes! While we do not have a separate December pinning ceremony, you are eligible to participate in the B3 Scholar Pinning Ceremony in the Spring semester directly after your December graduation.
Are B3 courses covered by Financial Aid?
We believe that many B3 courses are already included in your degree plan, as they are offered across a wide variety of disciplines. We also have many options for CORE courses that count towards the B3 Scholar Seal.
B3 courses are covered by Financial Aid:
- if these courses are required by your degree plan
- if they are designated or approved electives as stated in your degree plan
- if they fall within the numerical range of free/open electives set forth in your degree plan
If the B3 course is not included in your degree plan (major or minor) as a requirement or open/free elective, then there are options for private loans.
Please Financial Aid at jesica.gonzalez@utrgv.edu if you have questions on this.
I am a graduate student. Can I earn the B3 Scholar Seal?
Unfortunately, the B3 Scholar Seal is currently only offered for undergraduate students, although we hope that we can soon offer it at the graduate level as well!
