Dr. Silvia L. Mazzula is the Founder and Executive Director of the Latina Researchers Network and Associate Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. Mazzula is a counseling psychologist with extensive experience on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. Her research focuses broadly on “cultural responsive science.” Her current work addresses social and cultural determinants of stress and trauma, including discrimination and microaggressions, multicultural competencies and “Latinx” mental health. Mazzula’s research has been published in scientific journals, book chapters and encyclopedias. She is also co-editor of a four-volume encyclopedia, SAGE Encyclopedia on Psychology and Gender, with contributions from over 600 scholars, and author of Ethics for Counselors: Integrating Counseling and Psychology Standards by Springer Publishing Company.
