Forming The Committee
The search committee is an essential component of the recruitment process; from writing the job ad, reading and vetting applications, and conducting interviews, the search committee is the liaison between the applicants and the university. Set the tone in the committee from the start by establishing a commitment to communication and open-mindedness.
Best practices:
- Ensure that the committee itself is diverse*
- Anticipate common responses objections to applications**
- Attend training to learn hands-on strategies
