Courses

This is a foundational course for theory and practice in UX/UI design, learning core principles of how to design for users. Students will study and apply research techniques, methodologies, terminology, and applications used in practice to lay the framework for the design process.
This course provides an introduction to programming and user-facing practices in the context of web-based development. Students will learn contemporary tools and best practices for constructing and styling websites using Hypertext Markup Language and Cascading Style Sheets, as well as how to add interactivity to websites using Javascript. Course content includes web coding fundamentals (e.g. tags, programming logic, and style controls), and provides hands-on practice via production of a functional website. Students will apply principles of user-centered design, information chunking, website structure and navigation, and cross-browser compatibility, among others, to website-building projects. Prerequisites: UXUI 6301 Fundamentals of UX/UI Design
This course will focus on mobile app development. Principles of effective user experience and user interface design will be applied in the context of mobile devices such as tablets and smartphone apps. Students will look at case studies and real-world problems specific to mobile interface designs. Students will develop hands-on skills by coding to produce working prototypes which apply the core principles of UX/UI design. Prerequisites: UXUI 6301 Fundamentals of UX/UI Design
This course covers the theories, methodologies, and practice of research for user experience and user interface design. In order to support solutions to UX/UI design problems, students will learn to form research questions, search relevant information sources, develop measurement instruments, create and carry out effective research designs, use statistical packages and applications, and evaluate and report the results for their impacts on targeted problems and needs.
