Study Abroad in Italy
The Philosophy Department is offering a study abroad experience in Florence, Italy for Summer I, 2018. Florence (founded by the Romans in 59 BCE, later seat of Medici power, and briefly capitol of a united Italy), with its plethora of museums, churches, and historical sites was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance (artists Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, Cellini, Caravaggio, Raphael, d’ella Robbia, Lippi, and writers Galileo Galilei, Evangelista Torricelli, mathematician Fibonacci Boccaccio, Dante, Machiavelli, etc.) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in effect, a living classroom. Our formal classrooms will be housed in the CAPA center in a 500 year old palazzo in the historic center of Florence.
