- Martha Chapa, MD

Dr. Martha L. Chapa was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry at Texas A&M International University in 2016. She received her MD in 2020 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. As a first-generation Mexican-American who lived most of her life in a border city, her interests as an Ob/Gyn include working with underserved Hispanic populations and immigrants. She is excited about beginning her training in the Rio Grande Valley and hopes to work with many Spanish-speaking patients. Dr. Chapa plans on making the most of her training and may pursue a fellowship after completing residency. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, and attending art and music shows.
- Ye Ji Choi, MD

Dr. Ye Ji Choi completed her undergraduate training at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her B.S. in biology. She recently graduated with her MD as part of the inaugural class from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in Edinburg, TX. Dr. Choi was born in South Korea, but grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and considers herself as a Valley native. She is excited to continue working with and learning from the community. On her spare time, she enjoys jogging, exploring new eateries, and relaxing with her dogs.

Dr. Andrea Contreras was raised in the Rio Grande Valley, in Hidalgo since the age of 4. She graduated from Hidalgo Early College High School and completed her undergraduate training at University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley where she earned her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry with minors in English and medical Spanish. She graduated with her Medical Degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Her unique experience of growing up amid the melting pot of Mexican Catholics and American urbanites has been both an inspiration and motivation for her career interests and goals. She is interested in understanding and improving sexual education and women’s reproductive health in the Valley. Her two primary goals are reducing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) rates and unwanted pregnancy rates among teenagers and young adults as well as to reduce the stigma surrounding women’s reproductive health and sexuality. As she progresses through her training, she hopes to achieve her goals by strengthening her skills and knowledge of education, government policy, and patient advocacy. Outside of medicine, Dr. Contreras enjoys exploring local wildlife refuges, singing karaoke with her family, and cuddling with her 3 cats despite her allergies. Dr. Contreras is the inaugural BOLD Track resident of the UTRGV OBGYN residency program.
- Diane Ju, MD

Dr. Diane Ju completed her undergraduate education at the University of California Irvine, where she obtained her B.S. in Human Biology. She continued her education there and graduated with her medical degree in 2020. Although she was born in South Korea, she lived most of her life moving throughout Southern California. She is excited to start her new life in the Rio Grande Valley, care for the valley community, and learn as much Spanish as she can. She is interested in an academic career that will enable her to continue her passions in teaching and mentorship. Outside of medicine, she loves to travel, be a foodie/adrenaline junkie, play board games/escape rooms, catch up with loved ones, and watch cute videos of dogs/cats with her husband.

Dr. Zoe Kornberg completed her undergraduate training at the University of California, Berkeley where she earned her B.A. in public health. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and returned to her alma mater for an M.P.H., with a focus on Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health. Her academic areas of interest include health disparities in pregnancy outcomes and family planning. She is excited to become immersed in the culture in South Texas, make new friends, and to make an impact on the health of the border community. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, playing board games, and trying new things!
